3 militants, army man killed in Pulwama gunfight; violent clashes erupt despite curfew, internet shutdown

Srinagar: 3 militants and an army personnel have been killed all through a gunfight that ensued in predawn several hours in south Kashmir’s Pulwama village on Thursday.

Two army soldiers and a civilian have been wounded during the gunfight and have been shifted to hospitals. 

The gunfight commenced immediately after a joint staff of government forces including army’s 55 RR and Jammu and Kashmir police cordoned off Dalipora village of Pulwama district following inputs about presence of militants in the region.

A police official claimed that as governing administration forces zeroed in on the location where militants were suspected to be hiding, the militants fired upon federal government forces triggering a gunfight.

For the duration of the exchange of fireplace a few militants were being killed when a few army personnel and a civilian had been hurt. Just one among the the military personnel succumbed to injuries in Army’s 92 foundation Srinagar healthcare facility.

He mentioned the bodies of slain militants have been retrieved, even so, their identification is but to be ascertained. 

The wounded civilian has been determined as Younis Ahmed Dar, a resident of Dalipora.

As the gunfight began community youths strike the streets and pelted governing administration forces with stones and bricks. The forces responded by firing tear smoke shells and pellets. The clashes, according to locals continued for several hours. 

Meanwhile, the district authorities have imposed curfew in principal city Pulwama and web companies have also been snapped as a precautionary evaluate. 

On the other hand, witnesses claimed, inspite of curfew clashes have intensified in the all-around the gunfight and at some other spots.
